Beta Delta Epsilon’s philanthropy is Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). 5-10% of women childbearing age are affected by PCOS however, less than 50% of them are diagnosed. Symptoms of PCOS include infertility, weight gain, excess hair, amenorrhea, and more. PCOS has also been linked to heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. Despite its impact on millions of women, PCOS is not a well-known disorder. PCOS awareness is very important to the sisters of Beta Delta Epsilon Afro- Latina Sorority Inc. There are several sisters within our organization who have PCOS. We are finding ways every day to increase awareness amongst the public through education, support services, and even fundraising to help find a cure for PCOS.
